Why having a dog walker might be right for your DOG:
-
Regular walks help keep dogs fit, agile and healthy. We can provide the exercise a dog needs to maintain a healthy weight, improve cardiovascular health and boost muscle strength.
-
Exploring new environments fills dogs with excitement and curiosity. Our varied walks stimulate their senses, keep their minds active and reduce behaviours stemming from boredom or excess energy.
-
Regular, energetic walks can significantly reduce common behavioural problems. Dogs that enjoy frequent adventures are less likely to exhibit destructive behaviours at home due to boredom or pent-up energy.
-
Just like humans, dogs can experience stress. Our walks are a wonderful way for dogs to relax, unwind and enjoy being in nature, which can significantly reduce their stress levels.
-
Our dog walks often involve meeting new canine friends and sometimes even new people. This socialisation is crucial for developing well-rounded, friendly dogs who are comfortable in various situations.
Why having a dog walker might be right for YOU:
-
If you are like most dog owners, your dog’s well-being is paramount. Having a dog walker can ease the guilt of being absent. You will have peace of mind knowing that your dog has company to make their day less lonely.
-
The last thing you want after a long day is feeling overwhelmed by your hyperactive dog.
When a dog walker has properly exercised your dog they are more likely to be worn out and content at the end of the day, which means you can relax.
-
Depending on the age of your dog exercise needs can vary. Younger dogs, as well as certain breeds, require more exercise.
If you have ongoing health issues, or have had a temporary setback, a dog walker is a great asset.
Wedding Chaperone
Service
What is a wedding day dog chaperone?
A dog chaperone takes care of your dog on your wedding day. This includes taking them to your wedding venue, assisting with comfort breaks, providing meals/snacks and making sure they are calm and happy. It also includes helping them to fulfil their wedding role (for example, greeting guests and walking down the aisle).
Which areas do you cover?
We are based in Marske-by-the-Sea and our packages include venues within a 45 mile radius of the village. We can cover venues outside of this distance at a charge of 50 pence per mile.
How do I know which package to choose?
We offer a complimentary initial consultation where we can discuss which package is most suitable for your needs. Both the ‘Cal’ and ‘Col’ packages are flexible and can be adapted to suit you and your dog’s requirements.
Meet the Cal, Col & Co. team
Hi, we’re Abbie and Tracy - friends and founders of Cal, Col & Co.
The company is named after Abbie’s dog Cali, an 8 year old cockapoo and Tracy’s dog Colin, a 4 year old fox terrier.
We are both DBS checked, fully insured, Level 3 first aid level trained and dementia-friendly.
Hi, I’m Abbie, a 34 year old resident of Marske who has been animal mad since a young child growing up with rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and goldfish!
In particular, I have always had a real love for dogs and was over the moon at aged 7 when Nevis, an English springer spaniel puppy, came home.
Over the years, Tilly, Belle and Banjo joined the spaniel family which gave me valuable experience caring for, walking and handling multiple dogs. When I was 16, I assisted Belle in the safe delivery and care of her gorgeous litter of six puppies. They all thrived including the smallest, Dizzy, who I couldn’t be parted with.
This experience inspired my career in midwifery but after 9 years working for the NHS I have realised my natural habitat is being in the great outdoors surrounded by dogs and so Cal, Col & Co. was born.
My heart could burst with the amount of love I have for Cali, our gorgeous cockapoo. I would want only the very best care for her and that’s why we are passionate about treating each dog like our own and reassuring their owners that they are in loving and capable hands.
Abbie
Throughout my young life I have had many pets, cats, rabbits, mice, hamsters but I always wanted a dog. Unfortunately, circumstances would not allow this, so when I was at a time in my life where I was able to make my own choices, I decided to get my best friend, Missy, a beautiful bishon frise. And so began my love of dogs. She was ideal for my lifestyle and to have with my son who was one at the time. That was over sixteen years ago and I have never looked back. Missy brought us loyalty, companionship and a whole lot of love and fun, as well as her wonderful pups who all went to family and friends apart from the only girl of the litter, Hallie. We just had to keep her. She was an amazing mix of Missy and my brother’s dog Charlie, a poodle. They became inseparable and we spent a lot of time over at the lakes together, climbing many a mountain, running through streams and enjoying the great outdoors. Sadly, both Missy and Hallie are not with us now but we do have Colin, a fox terrier. A real character, who knows his own mind.
Choosing dog walking as a career is always something I thought would bring everything together for me: that work-life balance. Here I am, doing something that I absolutely love, surrounded by dogs, taking in beautiful scenery whilst keeping healthy. I will relish the opportunity to ensure likeminded people feel reassured that their best friend is in safe hands, and will experience the best care and adventures with us.

Safety First
At Cal, Col & Co. we take the health and safety of the dogs in our care very seriously.
That’s why in September 2024 we attended a canine first aid course in Morpeth hosted by The Dog First Aid Co. and completed the enhanced iPET Level 3 Award in Canine First Aid.
The full day interactive workshop was facilitated by a qualified veterinary nurse and covered all of the common canine emergencies. It also included a practical bandaging and CPR session using training aids and specialist dog CPR manikins, as well as learning life saving skills on a real dog.
The course developed our skills in identifying and effectively responding to various first aid scenarios that may arise, and how to provide the most appropriate care whilst awaiting veterinary assistance.
We carry a dog first aid kit on all our walks and have a larger version of the kit in our vehicles along with a list of emergency contacts including all local veterinary clinics.
We only use independently crash tested crates in our vehicles to keep the dogs in our care as safe as possible whilst transporting them to and from their adventures.
Testimonials
“We use Abbie to walk our dog Mollie on a regular basis. Mollie is coming up 13 and during her life she has always been cared for by family only. Our circumstances changed and we no longer have family to support in this area. Initially this caused us a dilemma as Mollie is a very nervous and shy dog, she is a huge part of our family and does not settle with just anyone.
Luckily for us, we found Abbie who is the most caring, patient, gentle and trustworthy person. She puts us at ease, keeps in touch and sends us lovely photos of Mollie’s adventures during their time together.
We cannot recommend Abbie highly enough if you are looking for someone you can rely on, trust and take care of your furry friend. We wouldn’t use anybody else.”

“Tracy was so amazing with our precious Bella. She gave her a great 1 hour walk and even washed her off and towel dried her before bringing her home. Pictures received during and after the walk were gratefully received. We would highly recommend Tracy and her business to anyone - as would Bella, who always looks forward to her amazing walks.”
